The Red Door Kitchen

The Red Door Kitchen (RDK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the lives of those in need by providing nutritious meals and related services.

Our Mission:  To enhance the quality of life of persons who are homebound by providing nutritious meals and related services.

The Red Door Kitchen provides nutritious meals to and touches the lives of more than 100 people each weekday.   Some of these people come to our facility, but most have a meal delivered to them.  We provide more than 36,000 meals each year and those meals are served and delivered by unpaid volunteers from area churches and the local community who donate their time, vehicles and expenses.   For many of our patrons who are homebound, our delivery driver might be the only person they interact with all day and just that human contact is as critical as a meal. Our mission: To enhance the quality of life of persons who are homebound by providing nutritious meals and related services

The Red Door Kitchen (RDK) was created on February 20,1984 by Father Jack Lawrence of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, members of his congregation and members of other local churches.

The Samaritan House

The Samaritan House was organized in February of 1988. Mary Coleman, Jeanette McClendon and Rev. Ralph Jernigan along with the Talladega Ministerial Association played a major role in our organization.  Our goal is to provide food, clothing and financial assistance with medications, medical fees and utility services to those in need.  We are a non-profit corporation operating strictly by donations with no government financial assistance.
